Inaugural Speeches

"That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood.  Our nation is at war against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred.  Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. "  - Obama (2009)
"The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life." "Finally, to those nations who would make themselves our adversary, we offer not a pledge but a request: that both sides begin anew the quest for peace before the dark powers of destruction unleashed by science engulf all humanity in planned or accidental self-destruction. " - John F Kennedy (1961)
I thought to read both the speeches to see how they talk to the nation, in Obama's speech it talks about war and how bad our economy is, which is good since he acknowledges that we weren't in a good place at the time. Whereas in John F Kennedy's speech it is about preparation and talks about peace with the adversaries of the United States. Also warn that dark destruction might be unleashed through science and end humanity,  which is happening as we speak. Since just the other day the U.S and other countries had bombed Syria for chemical weapons. Just the tone of John F. Kennedy's is more positive. Where Obama is more straightforward and is more negative because of the situation he was elected in. The difference in the year also makes the speeches that much different. 9/11 and the war was a lot on Obama's shoulders. I do like the fact that Obama is straightforward with the problems so that way the people know he is there to acknowledge such problems and try to solve them. Kennedy's speech wasn't bad but he just had ways of getting people more positive than Obama.
